QUIZ ANSWERS:
1. a. Cold air that is damp – and that includes inside shoes and boots. They only emerge when your feet (or hands) are warmed up again. Freezing air is more likely to give you frostbite.
2. c. Corns and calluses. Yes, we were a bit surprised too!
3. b. 30%, equating to a cool CAN$3.1bn in 2025.
4. Any of them! Bit of a trick question, we know, but ingrowing toenails are both common, and remarkably painful.
5. a.
“A five-minute routine of sport-appropriate stretches and activity helps prepare your body and muscles for the task ahead. Equally, a cool-down is important to allow muscles and joints to relax as you ‘dial down’ your energy and activity levels to normal.”
6. c. More than 100. There are over 2300 different types of wart too! If you have any warts on your feet, always wash your hands after touching them to avoid spreading the virus across your skin.
7. All three. B and c are caused by hormonal changes that happen during pregnancy.
8. b. Bunny hop, although some parents may also say c !
9. b. Sixteen weeks. You’ll also need a personalised training plan, and as Runner’s World magazine says: “The most effective training plan is one you can stick to and enjoy.”
10. a Socks. We mention the others along with lots of other tips, but socks are “Possibly the most important piece of winter running kit… Socks which wick moisture will keep your feet warmer and drier.”
